About Us

Who We Are

First Christian Church was one of the earliest churches established in Ellensburg. We are a congregation of Christians dedicated to becoming like Jesus, full of grace and truth. We worship the one God who created the universe and sent Jesus, his only son, to earth as a human being to show us how God intended mankind to live and, even more importantly, for him to be the ultimate sacrifice for our sin so we might be reconciled to God through him.

Our Fellowship

We are a non-denominational independent Christian church that shares a heritage with other like-minded churches of the Restoration Movement. This fellowship of churches seeks Christian unity based on a restoration of the faith and practice of Christianity as revealed in the New Testament, with the ultimate goal of the world being won to Christ. We hold up the New Testament alone as the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice and believe that one’s attitude toward Christ and obedience to him in all things according to scripture is the only test of fellowship, union, and communion among Christians.

Our Leaders

Don Green – Pastor

Don lived in rural Oregon until finishing high school then he went on to earn degrees from Puget Sound Christian College and Emmanuel Christian Seminary. He has ministered in Oregon, Washington, California, and Tennessee in a variety of roles including youth, music, Christian education, counseling, and preaching.

Don came to Ellensburg in 2011. He is a student of the Word of God, reads voraciously, and enjoys being out in the beautiful world God has created hiking, backpacking, and playing golf. He was instrumental in starting the Ellensburg Cold Weather Shelter bringing together many of the churches of lower Kittitas County in a cooperative effort to provide a warm and safe place for those experiencing homelessness in the coldest winter months.

Steve Douglas – Elder

Steve grew up in Salem, OR attending the First Christian Church. After high school he earned his degree from Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) and moved to Ellensburg where he worked at Central Washington University until his retirement. Steve is heavily involved in the community volunteering with the fire department, Kittitas County Search and Rescue, and Ham Radio Operators, among other endeavors.

Jeff Vickers – Deacon

Jeff has lived in Ellensburg most of his life attending the First Christian Church since his teenage years. He has previously worked at the airport, at Midstate Co-op, and is now working for Central Washington University. Jeff enjoys shooting, riding snowmobiles in the winter, and tinkering in his shop area. He is also responsible for running the church’s sound equipment for the worship service.
