What We believe . . .
The Bible
We believe the Bible is inspired by God. It is God’s revelation of himself to mankind. We look to the Bible as the infallible rule of faith and conduct.
God
We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus, the second member of the Godhead, the only begotten Son of God, became flesh in order to show us the Father and to save a world lost in sin. The Holy Spirit is the presence of God in the life of the Christian as an advocate and source of power and strength as we grow to become like Christ.
Humanity
We believe that all human life is sacred because we bear the image of God. We place a very high value on human life in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend and protect all human life.
Baptism
We believe that baptism is a burial with Christ and should be observed as commanded in the Scriptures by all who have believed in Christ as Savior and Lord and have repented of their sin. Through this burial in water we have died with Jesus and been raised with Him to walk in newness of life and we are then a new creation.
Salvation
We believe that evidence of a person’s salvation will show itself in a life that seeks righteousness and holiness. Christians live for Christ and not for themselves. Obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to God’s will and purpose will lead every believer to grow and mature into the likeness of Christ.
We believe God forgives sin through the blood of Jesus Christ which he shed on the cross. God freely offers salvation to anyone who trusts in Christ’s sacrifice as sufficient payment for their sin and acknowledges the Lordship of Christ in their life.
We believe that Jesus will come again to gather all those who are his to dwell in relationship with God for eternity. There will be a new heaven and a new earth for the eternal enjoyment of God’s family. Those who have not accepted the redemptive work of Jesus Christ will suffer eternal separation from God.
Unity of Faith
We believe it essential that each Christian should make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the head, that is, Christ. (See Ephesians 4:1-15)
The Church
We believe that the church is the body of Christ, existing in various and distinct locations, inhabited by God through the Spirit, of which Jesus is the head. The church is comprised of those who are in Christ (often called disciples) who are striving to live a life reflective of the image of Christ as revealed in Scripture.
We believe the purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and showing His love to a lost world. The church has been commissioned by Jesus to make disciples, baptizing them, and teaching them to obey His commands.
Christian Life
We believe that Christians should conduct their lives in ways consistent with the character of God as revealed to us in the Bible. We are created in His image and we experience the greatest freedom when we live according to His intentions for us. To rebel against God is to become enslaved to sin resulting in separation from God.
We believe that our sins are forgiven by placing our trust in Jesus who paid the penalty for our rebellion by dying on the cross. Our intention is to no longer rebel but to live in a way pleasing to God as He originally intended for us to do. We look to the scripture and to the life of Christ to understand what glorifies God in our living.
